Before You Travel
A Christian journal of Scripture and prayer for every kind of journey.
King James Version | 6 × 9 inches | 184 pages
“I bind accidents, tickets, tragedy and mechanical breakdowns, in Jesus’ name.” That is the prayer I have prayed before pulling out of my own driveway for years. I cannot tell you how many accidents I have avoided. The word of God works. He wants to protect us. And when we pray, we are giving Him an invitation.
The first half is thirty days of Scripture, reflection, and prayer for any traveler on any road: thirty different passages, one for each day, that belong just as much to a long drive as to a flight across an ocean.
The second half is more than eighty prayers for the particular trip in front of you: on the road, by rail, in the air, upon the water, across borders, the safety of the children, rideshares and where you stay, papers and belongings, health on the journey, the home you leave behind, and coming home.
There are prayers here for things we often forget to pray about at all: the food you did not cook, the water you cannot test, and the air in a closed cabin. God promised to bless the bread and the water of those who serve Him, and to take sickness away from the midst of them. That promise travels.
Every prayer is anchored in Scripture, and there is room to write on every page: space to record what you are carrying, and to come back later and see what God did.
At the back of the journal, the Stones of Remembrance section gives you keepsake pages for photos, ticket stubs, and the moments you never want to forget. When Israel crossed the Jordan, God told them to set up stones so their children would one day ask what those stones meant. This journal gives your trip its own stones of remembrance.
Traveling as a family? Before You Travel: Activity Book for Kids and Before You Travel: Activity Book for Teens and Adults are companions to this journal, with puzzles, prayers, and their own Stones of Remembrance pages, so the whole family can pray and play together.
A meaningful gift for anyone who travels: the anxious flyer, the family heading out on vacation, the missionary, the business traveler, the college student flying home, and the parent who prays over every trip.
